Apparently you cut two inches or so of flesh off the top of the fruit, plant it with the top greeny part sticking out of the soil, water when you feel like it (they are quite maintenance-free), and voila! In two years or so you have yourself a pineapple. Whether growing a pineapple is possible or not in Seattle I do not know..
